At the San Francisco Math Circle, we explore the fun side of math! The SF Math Circle is an extracurricular math enrichment program that gives students an opportunity to develop their mathematical thinking skills in a supportive, collaborative, and fun environment. We promote positive attitudes towards math and learning through engaging, hands-on puzzles and games that involve both creativity and critical thinking.
You can find more about our approach to math and math education here.
Please note that our focus is primarily on helping students to engage in creative mathematical exploration and problem-solving rather than building their skills in arithmetic or other traditional K-12 math.
This program meets at Lowell High School (click for a Google Map). The exact classroom will be included in the welcome letter for registered students.
Cost & Scholarships
The tuition for the Middle School Math Circle at Lowell is $420 per 12-week term ($35 per week). The tuition we charge allows us to cover the costs of the resources we provide, including:

We are committed to making our programs accessible to all students. We partner with ActivityHero to provide reduced tuition scholarships to families based on financial need, so they only pay what they can afford. In order to be eligible for reduced tuition, families must complete an ActivityHero scholarship application and provide income verification.

To start, visit ActivityHero's Class Scholarship Application page, add the scholarship application to your cart, and proceed to checkout.

Report the amount you are able to pay for Math Circle this semester. There are a range of options, from $20 up to $400.
Once you have completed and submitted your application (including providing documentation for income verification and adding the Math Circle session(s) you want to your cart), the ActivityHero staff will review your application.
