About us

At the San Francisco Math Circle, we make math accessible, inclusive, and fun!

The SF Math Circle is an extracurricular math enrichment program affiliated with the Center for Science and Math Education at San Francisco State University. SF Math Circle supports students from diverse backgrounds in developing their identities as capable, confident problem solvers.

In our after-school classes and camps, we provide a supportive, collaborative, and fun environment where students explore engaging, hands-on puzzles and games that involve both creativity and critical thinking.

Students explore these puzzles and games in small groups where they have the opportunity to collaborate with their peers and to receive personalized attention and support from SF Math Circle facilitators.

Please note that our focus is primarily on helping students to engage in creative mathematical exploration and problem-solving rather than building their skills in arithmetic or other traditional K-12 math.

Our Classes

This class will meet once per week and each class is 1 hour. Students spend the majority of the period exploring in small groups. There are typically 20-25 students per class and 4-6 students and one SF Math Circle facilitator per group.

Cost & Financial Aid

The tuition for the Spring 2026 term is $340 for the 10-week session.

We offer payment plans! If you opt for a payment plan, you can pay a portion of the full tuition upfront, and then pay the remaining amount in monthly installments.

In addition, we have a limited number of reduced tuition scholarship spaces available for families experiencing financial need. If you are interested in registering for a scholarship space, please contact Carrie Dobos from ActivityHero at cdobos@activityhero.com and she will guide you through the scholarship application process.

Please note: According to Rooftop PTA policy, each family may only receive one scholarship per semester for afterschool enrichment. So if you will already be receiving a scholarship for a different afterschool enrichment program in Spring 2026, you may not register for a Math Circle scholarship space.

Schedule

Our 10-week Spring 2026 term will start on February 18 and end May 13. We'll have classes each week except for March 4, March 25, and April 1.

Classes will meet on Wednesdays from 2:30-3:40pm. We will have snack time from 2:30-2:40pm, and class will run from 2:40-3:40pm.
